Saturday, January 16, 2017 - Sunday, January 24, 2017
Location: Barbados (Caribbean)
The race around Barbados dates back to the 19th century and is based upon bragging rights for the fastest “Trading Schooner”. This was a prize worth its weight in gold to captains in an era where prices for cargo arriving ahead of rival ships commanded a massive premium.
Whilst most boats sailed for the honor of the fastest time, the consolation prize of a barrel of Mount Gay Rum for the slowest certainly spurred on some captains, and had to be discontinued after two boats remained out at sea for days stalling to take the prize.
Race type: Inshore and Offshore

Monday, 30 January - Saturday, 4 February 2017
Location: Grenada (Caribbean)
At a time when many Caribbean regattas are reporting lower entry numbers, the GSW Board is proud that in its first 3 years the Island Water World Grenada Sailing Week has been growing steadily and strengthening its place on the Caribbean racing circuit. The introduction of the Classic Class in 2014 and the one design J24 Class in 2015, have been excellent additions to the keen racing/cruising class mix and ongoing feedback from our competitors, both new and old, is giving the organizing committee a better feel for what is needed both on the water and on shore.
